The people of Israel are now in exile. They have lost their land, they have lost their temple, they have lost many of the things which formed their identity.
Daniel and his friends show us what it looks like to live in a place where our primary identity, as people of God, is not favored by the nation we are living in.
After Israel fell in last weeks story, Judah remains for a time. There are a few good moments, but overall Judah looks a lot like the Northern Kingdom of Israel. God continues to send prophets to warn them to repent. However, the messages of Jeremiah and Ezekiel fall on deaf ears.
The kings in the Northern kingdom repeatedly lead the people away from God. They get worse and worse until God allows the Assyrians to conquer their towns and remove the people. Is there hope in this story? Is there any good news? There is!
This week, the Story focuses on the ministry of Elijah and Elisha. Who were these strange prophets, and what can we learn from them about how to live among people who have turned their back on God?
After Solomon, his son Rehoboam has a chance to fix some of the mistakes his father made. Instead, he doubles down on some of the worst impulses of his father. The result is a kingdom torn in two. Today we learn about division, and how Jesus wants to unite us.
David passes the kingdom on to his son Solomon who is wise and wealthy, before making many mistakes at the end of his life. This week we talk a lot about wisdom, and how we can obtain it.
This week, we read the rest of David’s story. As an older king, he commits some awful sins. What do we learn from David’s failings? How can we respond in the way David did?
David and Goliath is one of the best known Bible stories. Even in a culture where people don’t know the story of the Bible, people know this story. What do we learn about the person David was, and how does he help us see Jesus?

In this week’s story, the Israelites ask for a king. Even though it means they have rejected God himself as their king, God gives them a king. The results are not great!

After Joshua dies, the people are left to themselves. They failed to remove all of the Canaanites, and quiclkly turn to idols. When other nations oppress them, God raises up a judge to lead the people. What can we learn from this cycle of disobedience, oppression, repentance and deliverance?
After 40 years in the desert the Israelites finally enter the Promised Land. God keeps his promises, and gives the people their inheritance.

God continues to build a nation through the descendants of Abraham. In this story, Joseph’s brothers try to get rid of him by selling him into slavery. However, rather than being the end of Joseph, God still works through Joseph to save the entire region
Week 2 in The Story, covers Abraham, as God chooses a nation from whom he will save the world.
We kick off THE STORY series by looking at the creation and fall narratives of Genesis 1-9. From creation, to Adam and Eve to Noah. We see both the prevalence of sin, and heart of God.

At the end of Ruth, we see Ruth and Boaz get married and have a son. That son becomes the grandfather of King David.
The story of Ruth and Boaz and Naomi ends with God rescuing Naomi’s family, providing a son to her. A son that would be the most important king of Israel, and an ancestor of the Messiah.
God’s faithfulness and provision shines through again.
